Simon Wiesenthal Conferences
As it was yet being established, the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) already organized two large international conferences: In the beginning of June 2006, it held the conference "The Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal for Holocaust Studies" at the International Research Centre for Cultural Sciences – IFK) and at the end of June 2007, there followed the conference "Labour and Extermination" at the Wiener Arbeiterkammer (Vienna Chamber of Labour). In October 2011, the series of "Simon Wiesenthal Conferences" was continued with the topic "Scores of Commemoration. The Holocaust in Music" at the Vienna University for Music and Performing Arts.

Beginning in 2012, a three-day „Simon Wiesenthal Conference“ will be held every year; conference languages will be English and German. Like the Simon Wiesenthal Lectures, the conference topics may be chosen from the entire range of topics in international Holocaust research, placing a new focus each year. The given topics will be decided on in collaboration with the International Academic Board. The „Calls for Papers“ that will be posted in the usual forums are primarily aimed at attracting young, ambitious researchers from across the world. Established, internationally renowned scholars will be contacted with invitations to hold key note addresses or concluding and evaluating talks. In this way, the interested public in Vienna will be given access to presentations and discussions of the most recent research insights.

It is intended to publish the lectures held at each of the conferences in a dedicated series of VWI publications.

Beyond this, the VWI participates in various conferences that are related to the topics relevant to the institute profile by providing financial means, organizational support or contributions.
