Curriculum Vitae

Bertrand Perz, Univ.-Doz. Dr., historian, Professor (venia legendi since 2004) and Deputy Chairman (since 2006) at the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Vienna. He is a member of the executive committee of the Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance (since 2005) and a member of the advisory board at Schloss Hartheim memorial site (since 2007) and also a member of the working group regarding the redesign of the concentration camp memorial Mauthausen, implemented by the Austrian Ministry of the Interior (since 2008).
Born 1958 in Linz, studies of history, geology, philosophy and art history at the University of Vienna.
Since 1981 he participated in various research projects of the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Vienna and taught in Vienna, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt. He was also a member of various commissions and advisory boards. 1997-1999 he participated in the “Bergier Commission”, 1998-2003 he was a member of the Historical Commission of the Republic of Austria.
Research interests: National Socialist governance, war economy, concentration camps, National Socialist occupation policies, memorials.
